What the Tech Scan checks
Six categories, weighted by impact. Every finding names the affected URLs and the fix, so your developer can start right away.
01
Indexability
Status codes, redirects, noindex, canonicals, robots.txt and sitemap. Plus whether http and www redirect cleanly to one version of your site. These are the errors that make pages invisible, whatever else you do.
02
Speed
Time to first byte per page, HTML size, the heaviest image (via HEAD requests) and whether the server compresses. Measured from our server, so pages compare fairly.
03
AI readiness
llms.txt, structured data (JSON-LD), whether pages open with a direct answer, question headings and whether robots.txt shuts out AI search bots. The checks that decide whether ChatGPT and Perplexity can cite you.
04
Meta and titles
Title and meta description per page: missing, too long, too short or duplicated across pages. Plus the lang attribute, which search engines and AI engines use to determine language and country.
05
Structure and content
H1s, heading order, viewport, internal links per page, thin pages and images without alt text. The basics that decide whether a crawler understands what a page is about.
Why it matters · the short version
Why the technical layer sets your ceiling
Content cannot rank on a page a crawler cannot read properly.
Technical SEO is not a ranking boost; it is a ceiling. A page with noindex, a wrong canonical or a two-second server response loses to a weaker page that simply works. Most of those errors are invisible in the browser: the site looks fine while a crawler hits a wall.
A second reader has recently joined. ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers fetch pages with their own crawlers, read the HTML without executing JavaScript and look for things classic SEO tools never check: an llms.txt, structured data that says what something is, and an opening paragraph that answers the question straight away. Do nothing about that and you simply do not exist in AI answers.
That is why the Tech Scan scores six categories, weighted by impact: indexability and speed count most, AI readiness counts as a category of its own. Not a long list of everything that deviates, but the findings that matter, in the order you should fix them.
Methodology · what is what
What we decide, measure and estimate
Every number in the result belongs to one of these three. The report itself says which, per item, so you know what to lean on.
Assessed by our decision model
A judgement with a probability behind it: certain, likely or uncertain. Not a fact, but traceable — the same input gives the same judgement, and the certainty is always shown.
Nothing: every check is a rule that is either true or false on your site.
Measured
What we literally fetched or counted: HTTP status, HTML, robots.txt, sitemaps, feeds and search results. If it is not there, we say so.
The crawled pages, status codes, headers, redirects, HTML, robots.txt, sitemap, llms.txt and schema markup.
Estimated
Models and rules of thumb: search volumes, click rates, expected return. Good enough to prioritise with, not to budget on.
The final score: a weighting across the checks, so categories stay comparable.
Simulated. When no decision model, provider or cluster is available — or the daily ceiling for the free tools is reached — the tool keeps running on deterministic example data. That is labelled on every item it touches.
