Shopify SEO services

Shopify makes it easy to launch a store and hard to grow organic traffic in a structural way. Collections, tags and variants generate hundreds of near-identical URLs, while the pages buyers actually search for — comparisons, buying guides, answers to sizing and material questions — are usually missing. Traze fills that gap: it researches what your customers ask Google and ChatGPT, writes the pages that are the answer and publishes them straight into your Shopify theme, with metadata, schema and internal links.

You do not get an agency that delivers a document every month, but a system that keeps running: plan, write, publish, measure and improve. You approve the strategy and the pages; Traze does the rest. The result is a store that not only ranks higher in Google but also gets mentioned in AI answers.

Focus · Shopify SEO

What Shopify SEO at Traze focuses on

Shopify has its own strengths and its own traps. These six areas decide whether your store grows organically or stalls.

  • 01

    Collection pages with real content

Collections are your most important category pages, yet by default they are empty above and below the product grid. Traze writes an intro, a buying aid and an FAQ per collection that cover search intent without pushing the products down.

  • 02

Duplicate content from tags, variants and collection URLs

Shopify turns every tag combination and every product-in-collection into its own URL. We make sure canonicals, noindex rules and internal links point to one version, so Google spends its crawl budget on the pages that matter.

  • 03

Buying guides and comparisons AI can cite

‘Which … is right for …?’ is the question buyers ask ChatGPT. Traze writes guides with direct answers, entities and structured comparisons, so AI engines can name your store as a source.

  • 04

Product pages that do more than the supplier description

The same factory copy as ten other stores earns nothing. Traze rewrites descriptions for search intent and adds specifications, use cases and answers to the questions customers ask.

  • 05

Schema, metadata and internal links on every publish

Every page goes live with Product, FAQ or Article schema, an optimised title and description, and links to and from collections. No manual work in the Shopify admin.

  • 06

    Speed and theme hygiene

Apps and theme scripts slow Shopify stores down bit by bit. Our Tech Scan finds the culprits; Traze watches Core Web Vitals per page and tells you what to change.

Approach

How Traze approaches Shopify SEO

Traze does not start by writing; it starts by learning. It reads your whole store — collections, products, blog, theme — and builds a brand profile: tone of voice, range, price point, audience and the competitors you meet in Google and in AI answers. Then it maps the search queries and AI questions in your market and clusters them by intent: research, compare, buy, use. That analysis becomes a content calendar you approve before anything is written. The first step is explained in the holistic SEO analysis.

Next, Traze writes the missing pages per cluster: collection intros, buying guides, comparisons and FAQs. Every page gets a citability score — how easily AI engines can extract the answer — and goes live in your theme through the Shopify connection, metadata, schema and internal links included. You or your team review where you want to; what is approved, Traze publishes itself. More on the writing process at AI content creation in your voice.

Then the real work begins: measuring and improving. Traze tracks rankings, AI citations and traffic per page, rewrites what lags and reinforces what works with extra internal links. Every change is logged, so you always see what was changed and why. That part is called performance monitoring per page.

Deep dive

The Shopify SEO building blocks that make the difference

Five areas where Shopify stores structurally win or lose, and what Traze does about each of them.

Collection pages as category hubs

In Shopify the collection is your category page, and category pages are where commercial search volume lives: ‘linen shirts men’, ‘rug 200x300’, ‘gift for a colleague’. By default such a page is a title and a product grid. To Google that is a thin page; to an AI engine there is nothing to cite. Traze writes a short intro above the grid and a fuller block below it for every collection: what to look for, which materials or sizes exist, which questions buyers ask and which sub-collections there are.

That turns every collection into a hub that distributes internal links to sub-collections, guides and products. It is exactly the structure that builds topical authority, and it is the foundation of programmatic SEO for large catalogues.

Duplicate content and crawl budget under control

Shopify generates a URL for every product under /products/ and under every collection it belongs to (/collections/x/products/y). Tags add /collections/x/tag-a+tag-b, and variants append ?variant=. The canonical tag in most themes points to /products/, fortunately, but internal links in the theme often do not, and tag pages are indexable by default.

Traze checks which URL variants are indexed, points internal links at the canonical version and decides per tag or filter page whether it has value (then it gets content) or not (then noindex). The result: Google crawls and indexes the pages that sell, not the duplicates. To see where your store stands today, you can run the free Tech Scan on your store.

Buying guides AI engines use as a source

More and more purchases start with a question to ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity: ‘which robot vacuum is good for pet hair and stairs?’ The answer comes from pages that answer the question literally, with clear criteria, entities (brands, models, materials) and a structure a language model can read easily.

Traze writes those guides from your own range: the direct answer at the top, then criteria, comparison tables and FAQs, with links to the collections and products that fit. And it measures per engine whether your store gets mentioned, through AI visibility per engine.

Product pages built on search intent

Product pages rarely rank for the broad term; they rank for long-tail: model name plus size, colour, ‘review’, ‘vs’. The factory description does not cover that. Traze rewrites descriptions per product for the intent that belongs to it, adds specifications and use cases and writes an FAQ from the questions in customer service and reviews.

For stores with thousands of SKUs that happens at scale, with a quality check per page instead of bulk-generated text. Gaps in your product data surface along the way, for example when you test your Shopping feed for free.

International Shopify stores: Markets, hreflang and local content

Shopify Markets makes it easy to sell in several countries and just as easy to serve the same translated content in each of them. That is not local SEO. A German buyer searches differently from a Dutch one, and AI answers differ per language.

Traze builds the strategy per market: its own search demand, its own guides, correct hreflang and internal links per language. Every market grows on its own strength instead of as a copy of the main store. How that works in practice is covered in international SEO for multiple markets.

If you stay in one country, the approach is the same as for any other online store — collection, product, guide, FAQ — with the Shopify specifics above. The bigger picture is at e-commerce SEO.

Why Traze

Why Shopify stores choose Traze

Not a Shopify app that only fills in metadata, not an agency that only advises. Traze does the work and shows what it delivers.

  • Publishes straight into your Shopify theme: pages, collection content and blog posts go live without copy and paste.
  • Writes for Google and for AI answers, with a citability score per page and measurement per engine.
  • Humans in the loop: you approve strategy and pages, and a specialist looks along where it matters.
  • Priced per published page, cancellable monthly, with no mandatory apps or extra theme licences.
  • One dashboard with rankings, AI citations, traffic and the revenue attached — not a monthly PDF report.

Who it is for

Who Shopify SEO by Traze is for

  • D2C brands on Shopify that want to complement paid traffic with organic revenue that lasts.
  • Stores with a large range where collections and product pages are still empty or duplicated.
  • Shopify Plus teams that want to grow per market without hiring a content team per country.
  • Marketing managers with one content creator and a backlog of months.
  • Stores that notice ChatGPT or Perplexity naming competitors and not them.
